Great class, very informative and thanks so much for including the assessment tools. Provided a lot of insight and understanding that is essential to the population I work with. I think it's safe to say that all or most participants coming into the shelter are currantly experiencing some level of depression and have been for a while depending on how long they have not had some basic needs met. Learning how to identify and work effectively with those suffering from mood disorders can be the underlying key on how they progress in the shelter program, determine their ability to maintain housing and lead a lifestyle that makes them happy and healthy.

For an interesting read by someone who is an addict and has bipolar read ' Wishful Drinking' by Carrie Fischer...she discusses undergoing ECT and speaks well of it. It also is a hilarious book, the girl has got a sharp witted sense of humour.

Electroconvulsive Therapy is said to be used to treat severe manic behavior, isn't that type.Of therapy cruel and inhumane? I thought that type of therapy was only used in old Boris Karloff movies and find that .It is being used still today, there must be a type of medication out there to help these people.
Medications for these type of people has failed, but has enough research been continued to come to this conclusion on using ( ECT ) ?
